Regarding the lack of actual education these days, I knew common core math was gonna be a problem as soon as I first learned about the mess that it is some years back, but wasn't until very recently that I got to see anything first hand. A co-worker who is in college to be an RN had no idea whatsoever how to give change for a hundred without the cash register telling her. She actually had to come ask the manager. I felt so bad for her. And apparently a couple other girls are having trouble with math in college now too. And this is happening in what at least used to be a good district until recently, and one that has a decent sized populace with major money so its not like some run down ghetto school. All I know is I hope they teach real math to the kids in gifted/AP still cuz bridges and sky scrapers ain't gonna work with common core engineers.
